BERLIN, Feb 20 (Reuters) - Germany's BGA wholesale and foreign trade association on Friday called for a NATO-like trade alliance, warning that uncertainty for German business remains despite a U.S. Supreme Court ruling against President Donald Trump's global tariffs.
"Democratic market economies should join forces in a kind of trade NATO," BGA President Dirk Jandura said in a statement.
Jandura welcomed the ruling as a clear sign of constitutional limits on executive power, but said it was premature to assume a fundamental U-turn in U.S. trade policy.
The reaction followed the U.S. Supreme Court's 6-3 ruling that struck down Trump's use of the International Emergency Economic Powers Act to impose the duties, finding he had exceeded his authority.
