New Trump tariff threat is 'inappropriate escalation,' says German industry group head

Jan 19 (Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump's new tariff threat is an "inappropriate escalation" that is harmful to all sides, the head of German industry association BDI said on Monday.
"It is important that Europe now acts in a united and confident manner," BDI President Peter Leibinger said in a statement.
At the same time, the EU needs to keep channels for dialogue open and push for de-escalation, he added.
