July 21 (Reuters) - Greece recorded a current account surplus of 196.5 million euros in May, driven by improvements across all component balances especially goods, central bank data showed on Monday.
The surplus reversed a deficit of 2.32 billion euros in the same month last year.
The Bank of Greece data showed that the goods balance deficit narrowed as imports fell 14.3%, while exports edged up 0.3% in current prices.
Revenues from tourism, a major economic driver for the Mediterranean country, surged by an annual 17.7% in May to 2.25 billion euros, despite a 2.7% drop in non-resident traveler arrivals, the central bank said.
Greece's reserve assets totaled 15.8 billion euros at the end of May, up from 13.4 billion euros at the same point in 2024, it added.
