LIMA, Jan 1 (Reuters) - Peru's annual consumer price inflation rate was 1.97% in 2024, according to data published on Wednesday by national statistics agency INEI.
Peru's central bank targets inflation at 2%, plus or minus one percentage point.
The agency also reported that prices were up 0.11% in December month-on-month.
Transportation inflation led December's reading, with prices up 1.20%, INEI said in a statement.
Inflation in 2024 fell from the 3.24% rate recorded for 2023, and was far lower than the 8.46% inflation rate in 2022.
The central bank last month held its benchmark interest rate at 5.00%, one of Latin America's lowest benchmark rates.
