European and other world leaders urge 'swift and lasting end' to Iran war

LONDON, April 8 (Reuters) - Leaders of Britain, Germany, Japan, Canada and other European countries said on Wednesday that the goal must be to negotiate "a swift and lasting end to the war" in Iran within the coming days, following a U.S.-Iran ceasefire.

"Our governments will contribute to ensuring freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz," the joint statement said.
