TEGUCIGALPA, April 6 (Reuters) - Honduras' coffee exports rose 29.6% year-on-year in March, according to data released on Monday by the Honduran Coffee Institute (IHCAFE).
Some 1.4 million 46-kilogram bags of coffee were exported this March, compared to the 1 million bags shipped overseas in the same month of the previous harvest cycle.
The average price per bag stood at $307.55, down from $364.70 in the previous harvest.
Between October 2025 and March 2026, exports totaled $1.36 billion, representing a 32% increase compared to the $1.03 billion from the 2024-2025 harvest.
The United States remains the main destination for Honduran coffee, accounting for 36.5% of cumulative shipments, followed by Germany (16.1%) and Belgium (12.4%).
Europe accounts for 52% of exports and North America for 42%, according to the Honduran Coffee Institute.
Honduras is the largest coffee producer in Central America and the sixth largest in the world. In the previous harvest, which covered the period from October 2024 to September 2025, the country exported 6.1 million 46-kilogram bags.
