BERLIN, March 31 (Reuters) - The German government regrets the Israeli parliament's decision to pass a death penalty law, with concerns that it will likely apply almost exclusively to Palestinians in the Palestinian Territories, said a government spokesperson on Tuesday.
"Understandably, Israel has taken a hard line against terrorism since October 7. However, the German government views the law passed yesterday with great concern," said the spokesperson in a statement.
Germany is fundamentally against the death penalty, added the spokesperson, and cannot endorse Israel's decision.
