CHICAGO, March 13 (Reuters) - Spot basis bids for soybeans were steady to lower and corn bids were mostly stable in the U.S. Midwest on Friday as a huge swell of farmer selling triggered by high prices slowed.
U.S. grain prices have surged since the Iran war began, triggering a flurry of corn and soybean sales by farmers who squirreled away last year's harvests due to weak prices.
During an investor event on Tuesday, Bunge Chief Operating Officer Julio Garros said the company is filling all of its grain elevators in North America and South America due to an uptick in farmer selling.
U.S. soybean futures weakened on Friday in a profit-taking setback after hitting a near two-year high in the previous session on surging crude oil prices, while corn firmed as traders squared positions ahead of the weekend.
Chicago Board of Trade most-active corn contract Cv1 gained 4-3/4 cents to $4.67-1/4 a bushel.
The most-active soybean contract Sv1 settled 2-1/4 cents lower to $12.25-1/4 per bushel.
