CIF/FOB Gulf Grain-Spot soybean basis bids edge higher

CHICAGO, March 10 (Reuters) - Spot basis bids for soybeans shipped by barge to U.S. Gulf Coast terminals edged up on Tuesday after falling the previous day, as traders monitored whether top importer China will make purchases.

• U.S. soybean export demand has been sluggish recently as global buyers have turned to Brazil for newly harvested and cheaper supplies.

• Traders were waiting to see whether Chinese demand for U.S. supplies resumes in conjunction with a planned meeting between the nations' leaders.

• Analysts and traders doubted China would purchase an additional 8 million metric tons of U.S. cargoes, after U.S. President Donald Trump said last month that such deals were being considered.

• The U.S. Department of Agriculture trimmed its estimate for 2025/26 global soybean ending stocks and kept its U.S. stocks forecast unchanged in a monthly report. The agency also left its estimate for China's imports unchanged from February.

• CIF Gulf soybean barges loaded in March were bid 1 cent higher at 69 cents over Chicago Board of Trade May SK26 soybean futures. Barges loaded in April were bid at 77 cents over futures, after trading on Monday at 79 cents over futures.

• FOB export premiums for soybeans loaded from the Gulf in March were flat at 115 cents over May futures. Premiums dropped for soybeans loaded in May.

• CIF Gulf corn barges loaded in March were bid 3 cents higher at 80 cents over CBOT May CK26 futures. April barges were bid at 77 cents, which is where they traded on Monday.

• FOB corn export premiums for March corn loadings remained around 105 cents over May CK26 futures, while premiums weakened for loadings in the summer.
