Kazakhstan aims to bring Tengiz oil output to normal levels within a week, energy minister said

- Kazakh Energy Minister Erlan Akkenzhenov said on Wednesday that the country's oil output had decreased by roughly 900,000 tons due to a production halt at the Tengiz and Korolev oilfields, with the country aiming to bring output back to normal levels of 900,000 barrels per day within a week.

The shutdown of Tengiz, one of the world's biggest oilfields, caused by a fire and power outage on January 18, has been another setback for Kazakhstan.

Akkenzhenov said Kazakhstan had lost about 3.8 million tons of oil exports due to attacks on the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC), which handles about 1.5% of global oil supply and 80% of Kazakhstan's crude exports.

According to Reuters calculations, oil output at Tengiz rose to 860,000 barrels per day in 2025 from 605,000 bpd in 2024.
