UK commits extra $27 million to support Ukraine's energy infrastructure

LONDON, Jan 16 (Reuters) - Britain on Friday announced new emergency energy support of 20 million pounds ($26.77 million) for Ukraine after President Volodymyr  Zelenskiy declared a state of emergency following sustained attacks on the country's power infrastructure.

Zelenskiy acted as emergency crews worked to restore heating and electricity in Kyiv and other cities after last week's attacks by Russia knocked out supplies during sub-zero temperatures.

• Britain announces additional emergency funding to repair, restore and protect Ukraine's power grid this winter

• Funding aims to keep electricity and heating on in homes, hospitals and schools during harsh winter conditions
