CHICAGO, Jan 15 (Reuters) - Basis bids for U.S. corn and soybeans were steady to higher on Thursday across the Midwest as farmer selling stayed slow, dealers said.
The corn basis increased by 10 cents per bushel at a grain elevator near Chicago for quick deliveries by Friday.
A port facility in Toledo, Ohio, also increased its corn basis by 10 cents.
Farmers were holding tight to bushels they have in storage bins after prices fell earlier this week.
Some said they were hoping that weather conditions could potentially deteriorate in rival producer Brazil and ignite a rally in the markets.
Chicago Board of Trade corn Cv1 and soybean Sv1 futures set October lows on Tuesday after the U.S. Department of Agriculture on Monday issued bigger-than-expected estimates for last year's U.S. harvests and 2025/26 ending stocks.
Soybean futures rose on Thursday while corn futures slumped.GRA/
The U.S. soybean crush jumped in December to the second-highest monthly level on record while soyoil stocks swelled to a 19-month high, according to a monthly National Oilseed Processors Association (NOPA) report.
