
CHICAGO, Jan 15 (Reuters) - Chicago Board of Trade wheat futures closed lower on Thursday on reminders of plentiful global grain supplies, traders said.
CBOT March soft red winter wheat WH26 settled down 2 cents at $5.10-1/2 per bushel
K.C. March hard red winter wheat KWH26 ended down 5 cents at $5.17-1/4 a bushel and Minneapolis March spring wheat MWEH26 fell 4-1/2 cents to settle at $5.62-1/2 a bushel.
The International Grains Council raised its estimate of global 2025/26 wheat production to 842 million metric tons, up from 830 million seen previously, driven partly by improved outlooks for Argentina and Canada.
Lackluster export demand for U.S. supplies added to bearish sentiment. The U.S. Department of Agriculture reported net export sales of U.S. wheat in the week to January 8 at 156,300 metric tons, toward the low end of trade expectations for 100,000 to 450,000 tons. EXP/WHE
Euronext wheat futures edged higher, supported by an easing in the euro.
Saudi Arabia's state grains buying agency issued an international tender to purchase around 595,000 metric tons of hard milling wheat.
