CHICAGO, Jan 15 (Reuters) - Spot basis bids for U.S. corn and soybeans were mostly steady or stronger on Thursday at Midwestern grain elevators and processors, traders said.
A processor in Lafayette, Indiana, increased its soybean basis by 5 cents per bushel, while an elevator in Cincinnati, Ohio, raised its corn basis by 2 cents and its soybean basis by 1 cent.
Corn basis bids were steady to mixed at ethanol plants.
The administration of President Donald Trump plans to finalize 2026 biofuel blending quotas by early March, keeping them close to its initial proposal while dropping a plan to penalize imports of renewable fuels and feedstocks, according to two sources familiar with the plans.
In December, the U.S. soybean crush likely rose to the second-highest level on record, while soyoil stocks swelled to the highest mark since May 2024, according to analysts surveyed ahead of a National Oilseed Processors Association report due on Thursday.
Traders were still digesting bearish U.S. Department of Agriculture crop data issued on Monday, but some said it appeared that futures prices may have set near-term lows on Tuesday.
Grain and soy futures edged up for a second day on the Chicago Board of Trade.GRA/
