CHICAGO, Jan 14 (Reuters) - Basis bids for hard red winter (HRW) wheat were mostly unchanged at grain elevators in the southern U.S. Plains on Wednesday, dealers said.
Weather conditions were expected to remain dry in the Plains wheat belt in February and March, according to a forecast from Vaisala. Continued drier weather would maintain low moisture for winter wheat, the firm said.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture, in a monthly report on Monday, estimated U.S. hard red winter wheat ending stocks for 2025/26 at 450 million bushels. That was up from its December estimate of 426 million and from 402 million in the previous year.
K.C. March HRW wheat futures KWH26 ended 2-3/4 cents higher at $5.22-1/4 per bushel after dropping earlier to the lowest level since January 5.
Protein premiums for railcar HRW wheat to and through Kansas City were steady on Tuesday, according to the latest data. KCBT/SCA
