CBOT Trends-Wheat down 1-3 cents, corn down 3-5 cents, soy down 4-6 cents

- Following are U.S. expectations for the resumption of grain and soy complex trading at the Chicago Board of Trade at 8:30 a.m. CST (1430 GMT) on Tuesday:

WHEAT - Down 1 to 3 cents per bushel

  • CBOT grain futures remained under pressure after the U.S. Department of Agriculture on Monday issued bearish crop data, analysts said.

  • The USDA raised its forecast of global 2025/26 wheat ending stocks to 278.25 million metric tons from 274.87 million last month, topping a range of analysts' estimates.

  • The agency also issued higher-than-expected estimates of 2025/26 U.S. ending stocks and U.S. winter wheat plantings for harvest this year.

  • In Russia, the IKAR consultancy raised the country’s 2025/26 wheat export potential, but warned the target may not be met due to crop problems in the south.

  • CBOT March soft red winter wheat WH26 was last down 1-3/4 cents at $5.09-1/2 per bushel. K.C. March hard red winter wheat KWH26 was last 4 cents lower at $5.22-3/4 per bushel, while Minneapolis March spring wheat MWEH26 was last up 3-1/4 cents at $5.69 per bushel.

CORN - Down 3 to 5 cents

  • CBOT corn Cv1 touched the lowest level since October 16.

  • The USDA on Monday surprised traders by estimating that U.S. farmers produced a record-breaking 17.021 billion bushels last year. That was up from the agency's December estimate, while traders had expected a decline.

  • The USDA said separately that quarterly U.S. corn stocks reached a record 13.282 billion bushels as of December 1, exceeding expectations.

  • CBOT March corn CH26 was last down 3-1/2 cents at $4.18 per bushel.

SOYBEANS - Down 4 to 6 cents

  • CBOT soybeans Sv1 hovered near an October low set this month.

  • The USDA on Monday raised its estimate for last year's U.S. soybean harvest to 4.262 billion bushels, surprising traders who on average expected a decline.

  • The agency reduced its U.S. export forecast for the current crop year and increased its estimate for 2025/26 world ending stocks.

  • On Tuesday, the USDA said that exporters sold 168,000 metric tons of U.S. soybeans to China and 152,404 metric tons of U.S. soybeans to Mexico, all for 2025/26 delivery.

  • CBOT March soybeans SH26 were last down 5 cents at $10.44 per bushel.
