CHICAGO, Jan 9 (Reuters) - Basis bids for corn were mixed and soybeans were steady in the U.S. Midwest on Friday as market players awaited the release of highly anticipated U.S. Department of Agriculture reports on Monday.
Market players have been reluctant to make big moves ahead of the set of USDA reports.
The USDA is scheduled to issue estimates for U.S. winter wheat plantings on Monday, along with estimates for last year's corn and soybean yields and other data.
Exporters sold 198,000 metric tons of U.S. soybeans to China, the USDA said in a daily reporting system, after it reported sales of 132,000 tons of U.S. soybeans to China on Thursday.
On the Chicago Board of Trade, most-active soybean futures Sv1 rose 1-1/4 cent to end at $10.62-1/4 per bushel. CBOT most-active corn Cv1 settled 1/4 cent lower at $4.45-3/4 per bushel.
