Turkey's TPAO, ExxonMobil unit sign accord covering Black Sea, Mediterranean exploration

ISTANBUL, Jan 8 (Reuters) - Turkish Petroleum (TPAO) and an Exxonmobil XOM.N unit signed a memorandum of understanding covering new exploration areas in the Black Sea and the Mediterranean and other potential areas, Energy Minister Alparslan Bayraktar said on Thursday.
In a statement released by the ministry, Bayraktar said the accord, signed between TPAO and ESSO Exploration International Limited, aimed to increase operational efficiency and pave the way for new discoveries.
