ReutersJan 2, 2026 2:21 PM

- Following are U.S. expectations for the opening of grain and soy complex trading at the Chicago Board of Trade at 8:30 a.m. CST (1430 GMT) on Friday:

WHEAT - Mixed, up 1 cent to down 1 cent per bushel

  • Wheat futures seen mixed, awaiting direction following a four-session slide in the CBOT March WH26 contract.

  • Ample global grain supplies hang over the market, anchoring prices.

  • The United States sharply lowered proposed new duties on several Italian pasta makers following a preliminary review of their alleged anti-dumping activities, the Italian foreign ministry said on Thursday.

  • CBOT March soft red winter wheat WH26 closed on Wednesday, ahead of the New Year's Day holiday, at $5.07 per bushel. K.C. March hard red winter wheat KWH26 ended at $5.14-3/4 a bushel and Minneapolis March spring wheat MWEH26 finished the year at $5.74 a bushel.

CORN - Mixed, up 2 cents to down 2 cents per bushel

  • Corn futures seen mixed following a four-session decline that pushed the benchmark March contract CH26 to a two-week low on Wednesday.

  • Traders will watch for a short-covering bounce, but strong South American crop prospects hang over the market.

  • The U.S. Department of Agriculture confirmed private sales of 132,000 metric tons of U.S. corn to South Korea for delivery in the 2025/26 marketing year that began September 1, 2025.

  • U.S. crude oil futures CLc1 were down about 1% in early moves, a factor that could weigh on corn and soybean futures.

  • CBOT March corn CH26 closed on Wednesday at $4.40-1/4 per bushel.

SOYBEANS - Mixed, up 2 cents to down 2 cents per bushel

  • Soybean futures Sv1 fell to a two-month low on Wednesday ahead of the holiday break and may be due for a bounce, brokers said, but rallies should be limited by expectations of a massive Brazilian soy harvest starting this month.

  • The CBOT reported 913 deliveries against the January SF26 soybean futures contract, with no strong commercial stoppers.

  • The CBOT reported 48 deliveries against January soyoil BOF26 futures and no deliveries against January soymeal SMF26 futures. SOY/DEL MEAL/DEL SBO/DEL

  • CBOT March soybeans SH26 closed on Wednesday at $10.47-1/2 per bushel.
