US Cash Grains-Corn, soy processor bids steady-firmer

CHICAGO, Dec 30 (Reuters) - Spot basis bids for corn and soybeans were mostly steady to firmer in the U.S. Midwest on Tuesday, improving at a couple of grain processing sites, spot checks showed.

• The corn basis strengthened by 10 cents at Decatur, Illinois, a processing hub, and by 2 cents at an ethanol facility in Annawan, Illinois.

• The soybean basis also firmed at Decatur, Illinois, improving by 8 cents a bushel.

• Basis bids for corn and soybeans each firmed by 2 cents at Seneca, Illinois, where grain is loaded onto barges for shipment on the Illinois River toward Gulf exporters.

• Some locations were rolling their soybean basis bids to the Chicago Board of Trade March soybean futures SH26 contract as the January contract SF26 approaches its January 14 expiration.

• CBOT corn, soybean and wheat futures were lower at mid-session on Tuesday, discouraging farmer grain sales. GRA/

• As of 12:23 p.m. CST (1823 GMT), CBOT March corn CH26 was down 1-1/4 cents at $4.41 a bushel and March soybeans SH26 were down 1 cent at $10.62-1/2 a bushel.
