CHICAGO, Dec 1 (Reuters) - Spot basis bids for corn were steady to higher at U.S. Midwest ethanol plants and interior elevators on Monday and mixed at river terminals and other processors as futures eased and farmer selling remained muted.
A large corn processor in Decatur, Illinois, and a processor in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, each raised spot basis bids by 5 cents a bushel. A processor in Blair, Nebraska, cut its spot bid by 7 cents.
Corn basis bids were up as much as 8 cents a bushel at barge-loading river elevators as export loadings remained brisk. Bids were up as much as 5 cents at ethanol plants.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture said 1,421,258 metric tons of corn were inspected for export last week, above trade estimates and 50% higher than the same week last year. USDA/I
Spot basis bids for soybeans were mostly steady to firmer.
Farmer selling interest cooled on Monday as cash prices remained below recent highs. The recently finished corn and soy harvests are likely to remain in storage until prices improve.
Chicago Board of Trade March corn CH26 last traded down 3/4 cent at $4.47 a bushel and January soybeans SF26 were down 5-1/4 cents at $11.32-1/2 a bushel. GRA/
