BUDAPEST, Nov 27 (Reuters) - Talks are ongoing about the possibility of Hungary's oil and gas company MOL MOLB.BU buying a stake in Serbia's NIS refinery, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban's chief of staff told a briefing on Thursday.
Serbia must find a buyer for its Russian-owned oil company, NIS, which is under US sanctions. Orban is currently on a visit to Serbia.
"There could be an opportunity for a normal market transaction, but these talks are currently underway. Let me say again, it is in the interest of the company NIS that Russian ownership should end," Gergely Gulyas said. "One option here is for MOL to take on a greater role."
