CIF/FOB Gulf Grain-Soybean, corn barge bids flat-lower on light demand

CHICAGO, Nov 24 (Reuters) - Basis bids for soybeans and corn shipped by barge to the U.S. Gulf Coast were flat to lower on Monday as traders awaited fresh signs of purchasing interest from China following a flurry of deals last week for soybeans, traders said.

• Exporters continued to actively load corn for export, with 1.632 million metric tons of the grain inspected for export last week, including 700,608 tons from Gulf Coast terminals, according to U.S. Department of Agriculture data.

• Soybean export loadings have been slower than normal, with 799,042 tons inspected for export last week, down 37% from the prior week and down 62% from the same week a year earlier, according to the USDA.

• Chinese demand for U.S. soybeans has slowed following heavy buying last week totaling around 1.6 million tons sold over three days. The USDA confirmed 123,000 tons in sales on Monday.

• Two cargo ships were en route to Gulf Coast terminals on Monday to load the first U.S. soybean shipments to China since May, according to shipping data.

• USDA Secretary Brook Rollins said Monday that the White House expects to sign a trade deal with China within two weeks.

• Basis bids for CIF Gulf November soybean barges were unquoted on Monday on offers around 72 cents a bushel over Chicago Board of Trade January SF26 futures. December barge bids were down 3 cents at 76 cents over futures. January barge bids were 83 cents over futures, down from trades at 87 cents over futures on Friday.

• FOB export premiums for soybeans loaded in December and January were down 2 cents at around 103 cents over CBOT January SF26 futures.

• CIF Gulf corn barges loaded in November were bid about steady at 78 cents a bushel over CBOT December CZ25 futures. December barge bids were down 2 cents at 81 cents over futures.

• FOB export premiums for December corn shipments held steady at around 105 cents over futures.
