CHICAGO, Nov 19 (Reuters) - Basis bids for corn firmed at some Midwest ethanol plants on Wednesday while bids elsewhere held mostly steady as Chicago Board of Trade corn and soy futures declined.
The corn basis improved by 2 to 3 cents a bushel at ethanol facilities in Union City, Indiana, and Annawan, Illinois, spot checks showed.
The U.S. Energy Information Administration said weekly production of corn-based ethanol increased in the latest week to 1.091 million barrels per day. Weekly ethanol stockpiles rose to 22.307 million barrels, inching back up from a one-year low set in mid-October. EIA/S
Soybean basis bids were mostly flat after firming at river locations earlier this week, buoyed by demand from exporters along the Gulf Coast.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture confirmed sales of 330,000 metric tons of U.S. soybeans to China, a day after confirming sales to China of 792,000 tons of the oilseed.
China had bought at least four cargoes of U.S. soybeans on Tuesday night, including three from U.S. Gulf terminals, two China-based traders with knowledge of the deals said.
Chicago Board of Trade corn and soybean futures were lower in midday trading. As of 11:30 a.m. CST (1730 GMT), CBOT December corn CZ25 was down 6-1/2 cents at $4.30-1/4 a bushel and January soybeans SF26 were down 15-1/4 cents at $11.38-1/4 a bushel. GRA/
