CHICAGO, Nov 13 (Reuters) - Spot basis bids for corn and soybeans delivered to U.S. Midwest processing plants, river terminals and ethanol plants were mostly steady to up on Thursday, as futures climbed.
The spot soybean basis bid rose by 5 cents a bushel at a processor in Lafayette, Indiana and by 3 cents at a river terminal in Davenport, Iowa.
An ethanol plant in Annawan, Illinois, raised its spot corn basis bid by 5 cents a bushel, and a river terminal in Seneca, Illinois raised its basis by 6 cents.
The U.S. government is reopening after a 43-day shutdown, and farmers and investors are awaiting the return of data from the U.S. Department of Agriculture that was suspended during that period.
Farmer selling has been light this week and growers are awaiting a U.S. Department of Agriculture crop supply and demand report due on Friday. The USDA is expected to cut its U.S. corn and soybean production estimates in the report.
