FRANKFURT, Nov 12 (Reuters) - Germany's RWE RWEG.DE is preparing to build new gas-burning power plants in Germany where the government is finalising auction details for new capacity to secure energy supply, chief financial officer Michael Mueller said on Wednesday.
"We can envisage a total of three gigawatts (GW) of new...capacity, provided the economic criteria allow it," Mueller said in a press call following a 9-month earnings release.
He also mentioned RWE's coal-based production sites such as Weisweiler, Voerde, and Werne as examples where the company was looking for new power generation activities but also into hosting data centres or large-scale batteries.
