US Plains HRW Wheat-Spot basis bids mostly flat to lower on light demand

ReutersNov 11, 2025 6:30 PM

- Basis bids for hard red winter wheat at grain elevators across the southern U.S. Plains held mostly steady to lower on Tuesday, pressured by slow demand but underpinned at many locations by a lack of selling by farmers and weaker spot futures.

  • K.C. December hard red winter wheat KWZ25 was down 2 cents around midday at $5.25 a bushel.

  • Farmers are nearly finished with planting the U.S. winter wheat crop that will be harvested in 2026. Analysts on average estimated winter wheat planting as 95% complete, up from last week's average trade estimate of 91%, according to a Reuters poll of analysts.

  • The U.S. Department of Agriculture has stopped publishing weekly crop progress data during the federal government's shutdown, pausing updates for winter wheat planting progress.
