BEIJING, Nov 7 (Reuters) - China's President Xi Jinping attended a ceremony on Wednesday marking the commissioning of the country's newest aircraft carrier, the Fujian, state broadcaster CCTV reported on Friday.
The ceremony was held at a military port in the southern city of Sanya in Hainan province, CCTV said.
The Fujian is China's third aircraft carrier and its first indigenously designed vessel, complete with a flat flight deck and electromagnetic catapults for take-offs that make it a potentially far more powerful naval weapon than China's first two Russian-designed carriers.
