Marathon Petroleum posts higher third-quarter profit

Nov 4 (Reuters) - Refiner Marathon Petroleum MPC.N posted a rise in third-quarter profit on Tuesday, helped by strength in its midstream segment and improved refining margins.
The company reported a profit of $1.4 billion, or $4.15 per share, for the quarter ended September 30, compared with $622 million, or $1.87 per share, a year earlier.
