Sept 30 (Reuters) - Corn basis bids were flat to mixed at grain elevators and processing facilities in the U.S. Midwest on Tuesday, brokers said, as the accelerating harvest brought in fresh supplies.
The corn basis edged up at a Cincinnati, Ohio, elevator. It also rose at a processor in Decatur, Illinois, for delivery before October 5.
Farmers were ramping up harvesting, which was expanding north and west in the Midwest, a broker said.
Warm weather was expected to promote a rapid harvest pace over the next 10 days, brokers said.
Dealers were monitoring yield data and will continue to do so over the next month.
They worried the U.S. Department of Agriculture may suspend weekly crop progress reports that provide updates on corn and soy harvesting progress if the federal government shuts down.
In a weekly report on Monday, USDA said the corn harvest was 18% complete and the soy harvest was 19% complete.
