US Cash Grains-Soybean, corn basis bids steady in quiet trade

Sept 23 (Reuters) - Soybean and corn basis bids were steady at elevators, river terminals and processors in the U.S. Midwest on Tuesday in quiet trade, spot checks showed.

• The soybean basis rose at an Iowa elevator. Soy and corn basis bids elsewhere were steady.

• Farmers have turned attention to the early stages of the U.S. corn and soy harvest.

• Rains may slow down harvest progress but benefit crop development in those regions. But the western and northern Midwest are likely to see drier weather that will help advance the harvest, analysts said.

• The U.S. soybean harvest was 9% finished, and the U.S. corn harvest was 11% complete by Sunday.
