Sept 16 (Reuters) - Gold breached the mark of $3,700 an ounce for the first time on Tuesday, as mounting expectations of a rate cut by the U.S. Federal Reserve this week buoyed its appeal.
Spot gold XAU= gained 0.6% to $3,702.06 per ounce by 1417 GMT, while U.S. gold futures GCcv1 for December delivery gained 0.5% to $3,739.10.
