SINGAPORE, Aug 28 (Reuters) - Chicago wheat futures ticked higher on Thursday, with the market regaining some ground after dropping to a one-week low in the last session, although expectations of bumper supplies limited gains.
Corn rose for the first time in four sessions, while soybeans were largely unchanged.
FUNDAMENTALS
* The most-active wheat contract on the Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) Wv1 rose 0.1% to $5.25 a bushel, as of 0015 GMT, but not far from one week low reached on Wednesday at $5.23 a bushel.
* Corn Cv1 rose 0.1% to $4.06-1/4 a bushel and soybeans Sv1 were unmoved at $10.47-1/2 a bushel.
* Wheat prices are facing headwinds amid forecasts for rainfall in U.S. winter wheat-growing areas in the coming days, analysts said.
* Australia is on track to produce between 32 million and 35 million metric tons of wheat in its upcoming harvest, according to analysts, who raised their forecasts after an improvement in crop conditions and said they could further upgrade them.
* Updated quality results from this year's French soft wheat harvest showed that 69% of the crop had a protein content above 11%, down from 74% last week and well below a five-year average of 83%, farm office FranceAgriMer said on Wednesday.
* U.S. farmers are on track to harvest the nation's biggest corn crop in history this autumn, as well as a bumper soybean crop.
* The focus in the soybean market is shifting to probable U.S.-China talks.
* Senior Chinese trade negotiator Li Chenggang is expected to travel to Washington this week to meet U.S. officials, a United States government spokesperson said, with the two superpowers looking to chart a path beyond their current tariff truce.
MARKET NEWS
