CBOT Trends-Wheat up 1-2 cents, corn mixed, soy up 5-7

- The following are U.S. expectations for the resumption of grain and soy complex trading at the Chicago Board of Trade at 8:30 a.m. CDT (1330 GMT) on Tuesday.

WHEAT - Up 1 to 2 cents per bushel

  • Wheat futures Wv1 ticked up as the U.S. Department of Agriculture showed a slight drop in spring wheat ratings in a weekly crop report.

  • The USDA rated 49% of the U.S. crop in good to excellent condition, down from 50% a week ago. Analysts expected no change. Spring wheat harvesting was 53% complete, up from 36% a week ago.

  • Ample world supplies limited gains.

  • Russia's IKAR consultancy has raised its 2025 wheat crop forecast to 86.0 million metric tons, up from 85.5 million tons previously and lifted its wheat export outlook to 43.0 million tons, up from 42.5 million tons.

  • CBOT December soft red winter wheat WZ25 was last up 1-1/2 cents at $5.31-1/4 per bushel. K.C. December hard red winter wheat KWZ25 was last down 3/4 cent at $5.20 per bushel, and Minneapolis December wheat MWEZ25 was last down 2-3/4 cents at $5.89-3/4 a bushel.

CORN - Down 1 to up 1 cent per bushel

  • CBOT December corn CZ25 ticked down as the USDA reported better-than-expected crop conditions in its weekly data release.

  • The agency rated 71% of the corn crop as being in good or excellent shape as of August 24, unchanged from a week earlier, surprising analysts who had expected slight declines.

  • Consultancy Pro Farmer issued national crop estimates below those from the USDA on Friday, following the consultancy's annual tour of Midwestern farms.

  • CBOT December corn CU25 was last down 1/2 cent at $4.11-3/4 per bushel.

SOYBEANS - Up 5 to 7 cents per bushel

  • Soybean futures Sv1 bounced back from yesterday's losses after the USDA raised its rating of the U.S. soybean crop.

  • The agency increased the soybean crop rating to 69% good-to-excellent, up from 68% the previous week.

  • U.S. farmers are expected to reap a bumper crop, though dry conditions and pockets of disease pressure may limit yields, according to Pro Farmer.

  • CBOT November soybeans SX25 were last up 6 cents at $10.53-3/4 per bushel.
