CIF/FOB Gulf Grain-Corn barge bids mixed, soy bids firm

CHICAGO, Aug 12 (Reuters) - Basis bids for corn delivered by barge to U.S. Gulf Coast terminals were mixed on Tuesday, underpinned by brisk corn export demand, while soybean barge bids firmed a bit, traders said.

• CIF Gulf corn barges loaded in August were offered at around 80 cents over Chicago Board of Trade September CU25 futures, down 4 cents from Monday's offers, while September corn barges were bid at 91 cents over futures, up a penny.

• FOB export premiums for corn shipped from the Gulf in September were flat at around 126 cents over September futures.

• For soybeans, CIF Gulf barges loaded in August were bid at 61 cents over CBOT November SX25 futures, up 1 cent from Monday.

• FOB export premiums for soybeans shipped from the Gulf in September held steady at around 103 cents over November SX25 futures.

• CBOT corn futures tumbled after the U.S. Department of Agriculture hiked its estimate of the 2025 U.S. corn crop, raising its yield forecast to a record-high 188.8 bushels per acre and revising its plantings estimate upward by more than 2 million acres.

• CBOT soybean futures rallied after the USDA reduced its estimate of U.S. soy plantings and pared its forecasts of old- and new-crop soybean ending stocks.

• Separately, under its daily reporting rules, the USDA confirmed private sales of 315,488 metric tons of U.S. corn to Mexico, including 20,830 tons of old-crop corn and the remaining 294,658 tons for new-crop delivery.
