US Cash Crude-WTI at East Houston trades at strongest since April

ReutersAug 12, 2025 8:15 PM

- Cash crude differentials for U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude at East Houston traded on Tuesday at their strongest since April, dealers said, as the spread between U.S. crude futures and global benchmark Brent widened to the most since June.

U.S. crude futures' discount to Brent widened to minus $3.66 a barrel, the most since June 13. A wider spread makes U.S. grades more attractive to foreign buyers.

WTI at East Houston WTC-MEH, also known as MEH, traded at a 95-cent a barrel premium to U.S. crude futures CLc1, the strongest since April.

Though sour grades weakened, WTI Midland WTC-WTM, a sweet grade, strengthened 5 cents at a midpoint of a 55-cent premium, its strongest since July.

U.S. crude production will hit a record 13.41 million barrels per day in 2025 due to increases in well productivity, though lower oil prices will prompt a fall in output in 2026, the Energy Information Administration forecast on Tuesday in a monthly report. EIA/M
