CHICAGO, July 30 (Reuters) - Basis bids for corn and soybeans were mostly steady to weaker at elevators, processors, river terminals and ethanol plants in a spot check of facilities in the U.S. Midwest on Wednesday, as Midwest weather remained non-threatening and farmers attempted to liquidate old crops.
The corn basis fell at ethanol plants in Union City Indiana and Annawan, Illinois. It also fell at a river terminal in Seneca, Illinois.
The soybean basis fell at a river terminal in Davenport, Iowa and processors in Decatur, Indiana and Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Farmers were attempting to clear their storage in order to make room for newly harvested crops, according to dealers.
Non-threatening weather in the Midwest in the coming weeks, including periodic showers and milder temperatures, is expected to benefit soybean and corn crops.
As of 12:56 p.m. CDT (1756 GMT), CBOT September corn futures CU25 were up 2-3/4 cents at $3.92 a bushel and new-crop December corn CZ25 was up 1-1/2 cents at $4.12-1/2 a bushel.
CBOT August soybeans SQ25 were down 11-1/4 cents at $9.70-1/2 a bushel and the new-crop November contract SX25 was down 11 cents at $9.98-1/2.
