NEW YORK, July 23 (Reuters) - Alerts and story on Wednesday that the U.S. refining utilization rate <USOIRU=ECI> hit a two-year high last week are inaccurate and withdrawn due to errors in the U.S. Energy Information Administration's Rocky Mountains utilization dataset <REFCO-4-EIA>.
An alert about the Rocky Mountains utilization rate hitting a record 112.5% in the past week is also withdrawn due to the same reason.
The EIA has become aware that a refinery in the Rocky Mountains region misreported capacity in the agency's April Petroleum Supply Monthly (PSM) survey, published on June 30, an EIA spokesperson said.
As a result, both the weekly total U.S. and Rocky Mountain refinery utilization data have been incorrect since June 30.
The EIA is working to correct the issue in its next PSM report, due July 31, the spokesperson added.
