US Cash Grains-Corn, soybean basis mixed as futures drop

CHICAGO, July 21 (Reuters) - Spot basis bids for corn and soybeans were mixed in the U.S. Midwest on Monday as futures dropped and selling remained slow.

• Farmer sales of both commodities have been slow this week as cash prices are hovering near recent lows.

• Warm weather and heavy rains have created a beneficial greenhouse-like effect for the corn and soy crops in the U.S. Midwest.

• CBOT September corn futures CU25 were last down 7-1/4 cents at $4.01 per bushel, while new-crop December corn CZ25 was down 7 cents at $4.20-3/4 a bushel as of midday.

• CBOT August soybean futures SQ25 were down 12-3/4 cents at $10.15 per bushel. New-crop November soybeans SX25 were down 11-1/4 cents at $10.24 a bushel.
