CHICAGO, July 18 (Reuters) - Spot basis bids for corn and soybeans delivered to U.S. Midwest processing plants and interior elevators were mostly steady on Friday, capped by higher futures prices ahead of the weekend.
Farmer sales of both commodities have been slow this week as cash prices are hovering near recent lows.
Corn and soybean crops have been developing under generally favorable weather this summer, which has lifted crop ratings to the highest mid-July levels since 2016. Hot weather is forecast for the Midwest next week, along with scattered precipitation, meteorologists said.
CBOT September corn futures CU25 were up 6-1/4 cents at $4.08-1/4 a bushel at 10:00 a.m. CDT (1500 GMT), while new-crop December corn CZ25 was up 6-1/4 cents at $4.27-1/4 a bushel.
CBOT August soybean futures SQ25 were up 13-3/4 cents at $10.35-3/4 per bushel. New-crop November soybeans SX25 were up 15-1/2 cents at $10.42 a bushel.
