Brazil citrus exporters alarmed by US tariff announcement

SAO PAULO, July 9 (Reuters) - The announcement of a 50% tariff on Brazilian products sent to the United States made on Wednesday by U.S. President Donald Trump surprised Brazilian citrus exporters group CitrusBR.
Brazil is the world's top exporter of orange juice.
"It's terrible for the sector as a whole," CitrusBR head Ibiapaba Netto said in a statement. "We understand that this measure affects not only Brazil, but the entire U.S. juice industry, which employs thousands of people and has relied on Brazil as its largest foreign supplier for decades."
