CBOT wheat ends down as advancing harvests bring in new supplies

- Chicago Board of Trade wheat futures slipped on Tuesday as harvesting in the Northern Hemisphere brought in new supplies, traders said.

  • The U.S. winter wheat harvest was 53% complete by Sunday, the U.S. Department of Agriculture said in a report issued after trading ended on Monday. That was above the average analyst estimate of 49%.

  • Farmers in Kansas, the biggest producer of hard red winter wheat used to make bread, have uncovered stronger yields than in the past three years as they dodge rain showers, according to the Kansas Wheat industry group.

  • Agricultural consultancy raised its forecast for Russia's wheat exports for the 2025-2026 season. Russia is the world's largest wheat exporter.

  • CBOT September soft red winter wheat WU25 slipped 3/4 cent to end at $5.47-3/4 per bushel.

  • K.C. September hard red winter wheat KWU25 lost 5 cents to $5.22-1/2 a bushel.

  • Minneapolis September spring wheat MWEU25 was last down 7-1/2 cents at $6.29-3/4 a bushel, and CBOT September hard red spring wheat HRSU25 was down 16-3/4 cents at $5.95-1/4 per bushel.

  • The USDA on Monday rated 50% of the U.S. spring wheat crop as good to excellent, down from 53% last week. Analysts on average had expected no change in spring wheat ratings.
