CHICAGO, July 7 (Reuters) - Spot basis bids for corn and soybeans were steady-to-higher at river terminals in a spot check of locations in the U.S. Midwest on Monday as futures slumped.
The corn basis and soy basis both rose at river terminals in Davenport, Iowa and Morris, Illinois.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture rated 74% of the nation's corn crop in good-to-excellent condition, up 1 percentage point from last week and the highest for this time of year since 2018, a weekly USDA crop progress report showed on Monday.
The agency rated 66% of the nation's soybean crop as good-to-excellent, unchanged from last week but down from 68% at this same time last year.
Warm weather and periodic showers have boosted the corn and soy crop as July begins, with non-threatening weather pressuring futures.
CBOT December corn CZ25 finished down 16-1/4 cents at $4.20-3/4 a bushel.
CBOT November soybeans SX25 ended down 28-1/2 cents at $10.20-3/4 a bushel.
