CHICAGO, June 23 (Reuters) - Spot basis bids for corn were steady to higher at grain elevators, processors and river terminals on Monday as futures weakened on favorable weather in the U.S. Midwest, according to a spot check of locations in the region.
The corn basis improved at a grain elevator in Blair, Nebraska. It was unchanged at all other locations in a spot check.
More locations in a spot check rolled their soybean basis to the November contract.
U.S. corn and soybean futures dipped as warm, wet weather in the U.S. corn belt provided ideal growing conditions for both crops. GRA/
Farmers have still been slow to sell because the most important periods of crop development will happen later in the summer, according to dealers.
The share of U.S. corn rated good to excellent as of June 22 fell to 70%, the U.S. Department of Agriculture said in its weekly crop progress and condition report, down 2 points from a week earlier and 2 points below the average estimate from among 12 analysts polled by Reuters.
Soybean conditions were also lower than anticipated at 66% good to excellent, unchanged from last week but just below the average analyst estimate. Planting was 96% finished as of Sunday, USDA said.
CBOT September corn CU25 settled down 8 cents at $4.17-1/2 a bushel.
CBOT November soybeans SX25 ended down 14 cents at $10.46-3/4 a bushel.
