US Cash Grains-Corn basis bids edge higher at some grain elevators

CHICAGO, June 20 (Reuters) - Spot corn basis bids rose at some grain elevators and processing plants in the U.S. Midwest on Friday as farmer selling was quiet, merchants said.

• Farmers have been reluctant to book sales because of lackluster prices and uncertainty over summer weather that is key to determining the size of the harvest.

• The U.S. Corn Belt is in for a scorching weekend, though June weather has been mostly supportive for crop development.

• Extended forecasts suggest the next four weeks could be warmer than average across the central Corn Belt, featuring pockets of both wet and dry weather.

• Chicago Board of Trade corn futures Cv1 fell to their lowest prices since December. Soybean futures Sv1 eased after reaching a one-month high.

• Soy basis bids were steady to mixed.
