CIF/FOB Gulf Grain-Corn, soy barge bids remain largely steady
CHICAGO, June 3 (Reuters) - Basis bids for corn and soybeans delivered by barge to U.S. Gulf Coast terminals were largely flat on Tuesday, traders said.
Farmer sales of both crops remain sluggish as they finish plantings and assess weather forecasts for the summer growing season.
A gauge of farmer sentiment reached a four-year high in May as growers had a more optimistic outlook on U.S. exports and were less worried about the impact of tariffs on farm income, according to the Purdue University/CME Group Ag Economy Barometer.
China, the world's biggest soybean importer, said the U.S. should create the necessary conditions for bilateral relations to get back onto "the right track," according to China's Foreign Ministry. Senior U.S. officials have said this week that U.S. President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping would speak soon to iron out trade issues.
At the Gulf, CIF corn barges loaded in June were bid at 66 cents over Chicago Board of Trade July corn futures CN25, which was steady from Monday.
FOB export premiums for corn shipped from the Gulf in June were unchanged at about 78 cents over CBOT July corn futures.
CIF soybean barges loaded in June were bid at 68 cents over futures, which was steady. July soy barges traded at 74 cents over futures.
FOB export premiums for soybeans loaded from the Gulf in June were nominally offered around 78 cents over July futures, which was unchanged.
