CHICAGO, May 15 (Reuters) - Spot basis bids for corn were mostly steady to higher at U.S. Midwest river terminals on Thursday, and flat to down at processors. Spot basis bids for soybeans were steady to higher at river terminals.
The corn basis rose by 3 cents at a river terminal in Davenport, Iowa and by 1 cent at another in Seneca, Illinois, where grain is loaded onto barges for shipment toward Gulf Coast exporters.
The soybean basis rose by 4 cents at the Davenport river terminal.
CBOT corn Cv1 ticked down 3-1/2 cents to $4.23-3/4 per bushel around midday, pressured by ideal planting and growing conditions in the U.S. corn belt.
CBOT soybeans Sv1 plummeted 30 cents to $10.47-3/4 per bushel as biofuel policy concerns have re-emerged with rumors that a target for renewable diesel volumes under discussion for next year will come well below the 5.25 billion gallons proposed by an alliance of oil and biofuel producers, according to analysts.
The U.S. soybean crush declined in April but still outpaced most trade estimates and marked the highest-ever total for the fourth month of the year, according to National Oilseed Processors Association (NOPA) data released on Thursday.
