US Cash Grains-Spot corn basis steady to lower, soybean basis unchanged

CHICAGO, May 12 (Reuters) - Spot basis bids for corn were steady to lower at U.S. Midwest processors and river terminals on Monday, while basis bids for soybeans were unchanged in a spot check of locations.

• The corn basis fell by 5 cents a bushel at a processor in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and by 3 cents at a river terminal in Davenport, Iowa.

• Other elevators, processors, ethanol plants and river terminals were unchanged in a spot check.

• Farmers are busy with spring field work, with active planting underway in the heart of the U.S. Midwest farm belt.

• Soybean futures settled sharply up as tariffs between the U.S. and China were temporarily cut after weekend talks with the world's largest soybean importer.

• On the Chicago Board of Trade, benchmark July corn futures CN25 settled down 1-3/4 cents at $4.48 a bushel on Monday, while July soybeans SN25 ended up 19-1/2 cents at $10.71-1/4 a bushel.
