April 7 (Reuters) - Chicago Board of Trade wheat futures closed higher on Monday as dry weather was expected in the U.S. wheat belt and tariff news created concerns for investors, according to analysts.
CBOT May soft red winter wheat WK25 settled up 7-1/2 cents at $5.36-1/2 per bushel.
K.C. May hard red winter wheat KWK25 ended up 1-3/4 cents at $5.59-1/4 per bushel, and Minneapolis May spring wheat MWEK25 climbed 9-1/2 cents to end at $5.94 a bushel.
Dry weather forecast in the U.S. central and southern Plains will allow moisture shortages to expand for winter wheat, according to weather forecaster Maxar.
U.S. President Donald Trump said he would impose an additional 50% duty on U.S. imports from China on Wednesday if the world's No. 2 economy did not withdraw the 34% tariffs it had imposed on U.S. products last week.
Beijing retaliated with those tariffs in response to 34% "reciprocal" duties announced by Trump.
