US NYMEX natgas average daily futures volumes rose in March

April 3 (Reuters) - Average daily volume (ADV) in U.S. natural gas futures and options rose on the New York Mercantile Exchange in March from a year earlier, data from its owner CME Group CME.O showed.

For the month, futures ADV was 598,188 contracts, up 36.1% from a year ago. Futures ADV hit a monthly record high of 677,112 contracts in November 2018.

So far in 2025, futures ADV was 618,456, up 16.3% from a year earlier. Futures ADV hit an annual record high of 516,553 contracts in 2024.

Financially settled European-style options ADV was 289,239 in March, up 71.4% from a year earlier. Options ADV hit a monthly record high of 341,233 in January 2025.

So far in 2025, financially settled European-style options ADV was up to 320,091, up 34.7% from the prior year. Options ADV hit an annual high of 213,945 in 2024.
